Shakiya Pridgen: Georgia Mother Shot To Death Through Her Window
Shakiya Pridgen, a 23-year-old pregnant mother of two, was fatally shot in her DeKalb County home along with her unborn son, Kyren.
Shakiya Miangel Pridgen was sleeping beside her young children—one and three years old—early on the morning of June 16, 2026, at The Woods at Peppertree Apartments on Peppertree Circle in Decatur when someone fired multiple shots through her bedroom window.
She was nine months pregnant and had just celebrated her baby shower days earlier. Shakiya and her unborn son, Kyren (due any day), both died from their injuries after being rushed to the hospital. Her two young children were unharmed.

Family described Shakiya as a sweet, caring person and a devoted mother who was excited about welcoming her third child. Her mother, Verdina Scott, and other relatives expressed profound grief, emphasizing that Shakiya and Kyren were taken far too soon. A vigil was held at the apartment complex where dozens gathered to remember her life and demand justice.
DeKalb County authorities, working with the U.S. Marshals Service, arrested 26-year-old Devin Anthony later that day in Riverdale. He faces charges including malice murder, feticide, and aggravated assault with intent to murder. According to Shakiya’s family, Anthony was her ex-boyfriend and the father of her unborn son.
Police reported that approximately 11 shots were fired into the residence from outside, targeting the bedroom where Shakiya slept.
Shakiya leaves behind her two young children, her parents, and other family members who have vowed to fight for justice for her and Kyren. A celebration of life service for Shakiya and Baby Kyren was held on June 26, 2026.
