Sabrina Willis: 56-Year-Old Wife Shot, Killed in Douglasville, Ga. Husband Charged

Sabrina Willis, (Walker) 56, was a loving mother, wife and entrepreneur in the Atlanta area. She was just on the cusp of re-opening her barber shop when her life was cut short.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is probing her fatal shooting, which took place outside her home in Douglasville, Georgia. Her husband was also injured in an exchange of gunfire with responding officers.

The incident unfolded Saturday, October 5, 2025, at a residence on 7082 Littlebrook Way, shortly before 9:30 p.m. Douglasville police arrived at the scene following reports of a domestic dispute.

Upon arrival, they discovered Willis collapsed in the front yard with apparent gunshot wounds, while her husband, 51-year-old Volanta Lejuan Walker, stood nearby holding a handgun.

According to investigators, officers repeatedly ordered Volanta Walker to drop the weapon, but he instead aimed it at them, prompting one officer to fire shots that struck him. Walker received immediate medical attention at the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Further details revealed that the couple had been engaged in a heated argument indoors before Walker pursued his wife outside and opened fire on her. The GBI has confirmed that Willis's remains will undergo an autopsy at their crime lab to determine the exact cause and manner of death.

Willis, a devoted mother and accomplished hairstylist, leaves behind four daughters—three biological and one she had nurtured since the child was 4 years old. Known for her warmth and generosity, Willis had poured years of effort into her business, the Groomsmen of Atlanta Barbershop, which she had operated at 6229 Fairburn Road since 2009.

She had eagerly anticipated a grand opening celebration for the revamped space, complete with new booths and suites, scheduled for the very next day.

In a heartfelt tribute to their mother, her daughters pressed forward with the event on Sunday, transforming grief into a moment of communal support.

"This was something she was really looking forward to," reflected Jessica Barnswell, one of the daughters. Her sister, Michaella Barnswell, added, "My momma put her blood, sweat, and tears into this business."

The gathering drew friends, loyal clients, and community members eager to honor Willis's legacy. "She was a loving person. She showed up for people, so they're going to show up for her," said family friend Anesha Nixon. Shabrecka Polk, another daughter, emphasized the healing power of the day: "This really helps keep us going today because this was a really tough, tough day for us. This is what my mom would’ve wanted."

The family is seeking community assistance during this difficult time and can be reached at 404-702-2090. As of now, no charges have been announced against Walker, and the GBI's inquiry remains active. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
