Lakeisha Malone, 36, Mother Killed With Homemade Club in Ohio Home
Lakeisha Malone, a 36-year-old woman described by her family as someone who "wouldn’t do anything bad to anybody," was tragically killed in her Evanston, Ohio, home on December 30, 2025 — just days after Christmas.
According to her cousin, James Rice, Malone was a gentle person who never sought conflict or revenge. "She didn’t deserve to go out like that," Rice said, expressing the family's profound shock and grief. "I never expected this to happen."
Lakeisha Malone: Killed in Her Ohio Home
The attack occurred while Malone was sleeping, and children were present in the home. She shared one child with the accused, 40-year-old Andre Redmond, who has been charged with her murder.
Authorities allege Redmond used a homemade wooden club in the assault. He is being held on a $2 million bond and is scheduled to appear in court again on January 9, 2026.
Rice emphasized the devastating impact on Malone's children and the broader family, noting the unexpected nature of the loss during the holiday season. "Our family has to work together to take care of our kids, especially her parents," he said. "Something like this is unexpected. And those children and family will certainly need all the help they can get."
In response, Rice launched a GoFundMe campaign to cover funeral expenses and support Malone's children, which has already raised more than $1,400.
The family is calling for justice, with Rice stating he would prefer Redmond receive a life sentence without parole. "That’s the best option that I feel like we have," he said.
Cincinnati Police Department's Homicide Unit is investigating the case. The loss of Lakeisha Malone has left her loved ones heartbroken, highlighting the enduring pain of sudden violence on a family striving to heal and care for the young ones she leaves behind.
