Desiree Childs: Teenager Walking Home Shot Dead In Pontiac
Desiree Childs was walking home with a friend of hers about 11:20 p.m. Saturday, October 28, 2023, in Pontiac, Michigan, when several shots rang out from a vehicle, according to police.
Desiree was shot in the chest, but her friend was not injured.

Her mother, Nicole Jones, told local media that the tragedy doesn’t seem real. “But I know it’s real because I saw her body yesterday,” she said through tears.
Police are investigating the murder but have made no arrests.
"Please help us solve this tragic and senseless loss of life," Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said. "If you have any information, big or small, please help us bring justice to this young lady. Your call can be anonymous."
A reward of up to $2,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest in her death. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
The family has created a GoFundMe page. It says:
We are creating this page because we are currently living our worst nightmare. Myself, my daughter’s father and Desiree’s siblings are struggling to get through this moment. Please any help will help us in the stress of a burial and financials. Desiree’ was taken from us way too soon, senseless reasons! Tragically, lost her life to gun violence this past Saturday on her way home. Beautiful inside and out, she was just beginning her life! Anything will help us! My baby will be FOREVER 16!!!
