Desiree Robinson, 16, was beaten, strangled and had her throat slashed on Dec. 31, 2016 after meeting an ex-convict on Backpage.com. Her body was found in a Markham, Illinois garage.

Sylvia Brice, 52, died from several stab wounds after being attacked by her ex-boyfriend in her Chicago home on December 31, 2016.  Suspect Douglas Askew was jailed for 40 years in a similar crime in 1990.

The body of Misha Moore, 26, was found near a stairwell at Underground Atlanta on January 9, 2017. Police said that she had been shot twice, had bruises on her body and may have been stabbed. She recently moved from New York, cops said.

Orlando Police Sgt. Debra Clayton was fatally shot on January 8, 2017 when she confronted a man wanted in the slaying of Sade Dixon.

Alaysia Bennett, 19, died from multiple gunshot wounds after she and three of her friends sitting in a parked car in Springfield, Illinois, were ambushed by a gunman. Police have no suspects or motives in the Dec. 19, 2016 attack.
