Kiah Hopson: 24-Year-Old Nurse Shot To Death Outside Detroit-Area Apartment Complex

Kiah Hopson, 24, was gunned down outside her Sterling Heights, Michigan apartment on Saturday, Dec. 9 2017. Police have no suspects.

Kiah Hopson was dedicated to doing good to others, including working as a nurse. The 24 year old had recently moved into an apartment in the Detroit area. She enjoyed helping older people, working at Woodward Hills Nursing Center in Bloomfield Hills.

“She was the one who finished nursing school first, out of everybody, all of her friends are in nursing school, she set the tone,” Shantiec, her best friend, told local TV station WXYZ-TV.

Police said that Hopson was shot to death Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017 in the parking lot of Parkside Circle Apartments in Sterling Heights, Michigan.

Shantiec said Hopson was murdered during something very ordinary, which has her concerned.

“She was hurt outside of her home, she wasn’t out a club, she wasn’t pulling up to a guy’s house, She was at her home. When you think of home, you think of safety,” said Shantiec.

“The detectives are investigating every possible lead,” said Sterling Heights police Lt. Mario Bastianelli.

Neighbor Dave Deprez told the station that he was startled from slumber by early morning gunfire.

“I heard gunshots this morning that woke me up. Crazy,” he said. “We just heard pop, pop, pop, pop, seven times.”

Sterling Heights police don't have any suspects or leads and they’re asking for the public’s help to solve the murder.
