Kenneka Martin: 19-year-Old Chicago Teen Found Dead In Freezer After Partying With Friends
A Chicago teenager who left with her girlfriends to attend a party was found dead in a walk-in freezer. The friends, who have not yet been identified by authorities, allegedly left the party after they were unable to find Kenneka, whom they rode with. They called her mother early Sunday, September 10, 2017 to tell her that her daughter was missing.
Social media users say there is video shared online that shows the girl was gang-raped while in a drunken stupor. The girl's mother, Teraesa Martin, told a local news outlet that she is "horrified" over the situation and that no arrests have been made.
According to Martin and police, Jenkins left her house around 11:30 p.m. Friday to go to a party with friends at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O'Hare Hotel & Conference Center in Rosemont. Social media video purportedly taken from the room shows a friend of Kenneka's using a cellphone video while voices can be heard in the back ground. In one of the clips circulating online, the whimpering voice of a female can be heard in the background while a man's voice is heard.
Gary Mack, a spokesman for the village of Rosemont, told the Chicago Tribune that Jenkins' sister last spoke to her around 1:30 a.m., purportedly the last person to speak to the teenager.
Police said that her body was found later by authorities in a walk-in freezer at the hotel. No one has been charged in Kenneka's death as of yet since the coroner has not released an autopsy.
