Deasia Washington: Mother of 2 gunned down at North Carolina house party
Deasia Washington was a young mother who loved to have a good time. She attended a party on October 8 in Kingstown, North Carolina.
From social media posts, all that is known is that the party was a lively one, until it turned tragic. Some way, somehow, for no apparent reason, gunfire erupted.
Police officers responding to a call about shots being fired arrived at the house party to find Washington, 23, on the kitchen floor suffering from a gunshot wound, according to the Shelby Star newspaper.
Rushed to Shelby's Carolinas HealthCare System Cleveland, Washington was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.
Incredibly, police have no suspects; no one is talking, this despite the fact that more than 100 people were reportedly at the residence at the time of the shooting.
"It is our understanding that there were at least 100 people at this residence when the shooting occurred," Sheriff Alan Norman told the Shelby Star. "Someone who was there saw or heard something. We could really use their help in solving this case. We encourage them to come forward."
An aunt of Washington went to social media to express her grief over her loss. "Prayers going up for her two sweet sons and the family. Fly high baby girl. Gone but never forgotten," Kay Whisnant posted, according to the Star.
Ashley Washington, another mourner, quoted in the Gaston Gazette, said this online: "It's hard to believe that you're gone. Now you don't have to hurt no more & all your pain is gone. I know you're going to be in heaven watching over us and I promise you I will make sure the boys are forever good. We love you!"
Washington leaves behind two young boys, Rakereon and Ra'Kaylon, the Star reports.
Anyone who has information on the shooter is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 704-481-TIPS. And if you were at the party, please call investigators at 704-484-4822.
